FaceNinja

Use case · game studios

Your game's cast, as finished heads from photos.

Photograph the actors who agreed, send the photos in a batch, and get back one finished head per person: same mesh, same UVs, same 52 ARKit shapes, so one rig, one material and one animation set fit the whole cast.

A cast of 40, in practice

  1. Collect consent and photos

One folder per actor, 1–15 photos each, with a written agreement from every person. Adults only.

  2. Send the batch

One POST /v1/heads per actor with an Idempotency-Key from the folder name, so a retry never makes a second head. Up to 30 head creations a minute.

  3. Hear back

Your webhook hears head.completed or head.failed for each head. A failed head returns its credits by itself and says why, naming the photo at fault.

  4. Fetch the files

FBX for Unity, the MetaHuman ZIP for Unreal, GLB for anything else, all from the same head.

Why one topology matters for a cast

  • One rig. Every head has the same vertex order, so a facial rig or retarget made once applies to all of them.
  • One material. The same UV layout and the same four 4K maps per head, so one material setup takes every face.
  • One animation set. All 52 ARKit shapes on every head, so captured performances play on any of them.
  • Necks that fit bodies. The neck and trapezius follow each person, so the join with your body meshes is clean.

Faces of your players

You can also offer players a head of themselves. A head usually takes 10–20 minutes, so design it as a background step, not an instant one. Your app collects each player's confirmation that the photos are of them and that they are an adult, and sends it with every head, as the API requires.

Questions from game studios

Up to 30 head creations a minute and 600 requests a minute per account. For more than 1,000 heads, write to us about volume.
02Do we keep the photos?
We delete the photos 7 days after a head is made and never use them to train models. Files are kept 30 days; the master they are rebuilt from, one year.
03Can we use the heads commercially?
Yes, under our terms, with the consent of the people shown. A MetaHuman you build from a head in MetaHuman Creator comes under Epic's licence.
