Third-party software and licences
Draft for counsel, not in force. Version 2026-10-25. Part of the Terms of service (section 9). Items in [brackets] are open questions.
FaceNinja delivers files. What you do with them happens in software and services that other companies make, under their terms, between you and them. This page names the tools you install or sign in to yourself when you use FaceNinja's files and the Creator Kit. We are not responsible for them, and their terms can change without us knowing; the maker's own page is always the one that applies.
1. Epic Games: MetaHuman and Unreal Engine
- MetaHuman, MetaHuman Creator, the MetaHuman plugin and MetaHuman Animator, Unreal Engine, Fab and Epic's online services (for example where Epic's cloud builds a rig or textures for a MetaHuman you make) are provided by Epic Games, Inc. under Epic's own licences and terms, including the Unreal Engine EULA and the MetaHuman terms. You accept those with Epic, through your own Epic account.
- When you import a FaceNinja file into MetaHuman, the rig, the character and the Unreal Engine project you create with your Epic account in your copy of Unreal Engine are created outside FaceNinja. We do not provide, host, control or support them, and we have no rights in them.
- You are responsible for following Epic's licence for every MetaHuman you make, use or ship: for example in which engines and products MetaHuman assets may be used, and what Epic requires when you distribute them. Read Epic's terms at unrealengine.com/eula and metahuman.com. [Counsel: confirm the current MetaHuman licence terms and the right links.]
- We do not promise that our files keep working with new versions of MetaHuman or Unreal Engine, or with any other engine.
2. The Creator Kit
- The FaceNinja Creator Kit (code, prompts, guide, scripts and the small Unreal project) is open source under the MIT licence: it is provided as is, without warranty of any kind, and you use it at your own risk. The licence text is
LICENSEin the zip. - The room art in the kit zip is CC0 (public domain) from Poly Haven. The separate free Room Pack 1.0 contains 3D props from the Scenario 3D Collection, licensed CC BY 4.0, credit: Scenario. The props were modified: decimated, textures resized, rescaled. Its CREDITS.txt lists each asset and original path.
- Everything else the kit works with you install yourself, from its maker, under its own licence;
THIRD_PARTY.mdin the zip lists each one with its link. For example:- voice engines: Kokoro (Apache-2.0), Chatterbox (MIT; it watermarks every clip), and ElevenLabs (a paid cloud service under ElevenLabs' terms, with your own account);
- OBS Studio (GPL-2.0);
- virtual audio cables: VB-CABLE on Windows (VB-Audio's terms) and BlackHole on macOS (GPL-3.0);
- Live Link Face (Epic, App Store terms), optional;
- plugins from Fab, such as a lip-sync plugin, under the Fab licence of each listing, bought by you.
- Clone only your own voice or the voice of a person who agreed in writing (Content and Likeness Policy).
3. Other services
- Google, if you sign in with a Google account (Google's terms; Google's own recovery process for the account).
- Your AI agent and its provider (for example Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or Gemini CLI), which run our agent skill on your computer with your permission, under their own terms.
- Paddle.com, our reseller and Merchant of Record, for payments (Paddle's buyer terms), once buying opens.
4. Trademarks and no endorsement
MetaHuman, Unreal Engine and Fab are trademarks or registered trademarks of Epic Games, Inc. ARKit and App Store are trademarks of Apple Inc. Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Gemini CLI, OpenClaw, OBS, Kokoro, Chatterbox, ElevenLabs, VB-CABLE, BlackHole, Poly Haven, Google and Paddle are trademarks of their owners. FaceNinja is not affiliated with, endorsed, sponsored or approved by any of them. We name them only to say what our files work with.
5. Open-source notices
The open-source components that the FaceNinja website itself serves (fonts and scripts) are listed with their licences in licenses.txt.
