FaceNinja

Use case · film, previs and virtual production

Heads of your cast for previs and film.

Before the shoot, put your actors into previs and virtual production in Unreal: one head per actor from a few photos, at life size, as MetaHumans you can light, block and drive with Live Link Face.

The 3D MetaHuman head FaceNinja made from photo S-07

Where it helps

  • Previs and blocking. Recognisable actors in shot plans and animatics, at life size.
  • Virtual production. MetaHumans in Unreal, driven by an actor with Live Link Face, through the 52 ARKit shapes.
  • Background and crowd tests. Many consenting people, quickly, as a batch.

Life size, and a measured option

Every file is in real units at life size, at an average adult head's size. The measured download option scales a head to an estimate of the person's size, roughly ±10 % on a sharp, front-facing photo: use it as a hint, for example to place a head on a body of known height.

Photos shot in one session (beta)

If you can photograph the actor yourself, 2–15 photos from one session, with the light and the expression held, can be reconstructed together; you also get each photo's camera position and focal length.

What to keep in mind

  • Consent in writing from every actor, and adults only.
  • Ears are not read from the photos; hair is a MetaHuman groom you choose.
  • For hero close-ups, plan a dedicated capture; these heads are for previs, blocking and tests.
